Get SOSSy

At the start of each semester, the SOSS Sanggunian would focus on ICs and FGDs to create a direction with our constituents, which include organizations, parties, and, most significantly, our fellow students. Once the term starts, courtesy calls would be done with SOSS organizations, socio-political sectors in the Ateneo, and constituents to get the pulse of what the student body is calling for. This will range from anything concerning more grass-roots initiatives, further engagement with political issues, and conversations deemed necessary by the students themselves. After this conversation phase, the SOSS Sanggunian team would collaborate to create an action plan. Upon completion of the plan, the SOSS Sanggunian team would consult the student-arms to gauge its constitutionality and feasibility within the Sanggunian system. Once the student-arms have confirmed the plan's constitutionality, the data and initiatives will be posted on the SOSS Sanggunian page for everyone to see. This opportunity would allow the Sanggunian to be much more prepared for the coming term as it ensures the organization discerns and plans on the feasibility of what the SOSS Sanggunian could become.

ConsenSOSS

The Sanggunian must be able to champion the advocacies of the students. Yet it is essential to note that the Sanggunian should not see itself as the pinnacle of student representation if they cannot reach out for help. There are many untapped potential organizations, departments, or even people who have the expertise to be a part of, guide, and aid in the Sanggunian system. At the same time, organizations may require help to fulfill their vision, ranging from volunteers, spreading of information, or even funding. ConsenSOSS heavily focuses on reevaluating operations in the advocacy department through collaborative measures that allow others, and the Sanggunian, to best represent their advocacies. As per the advocacies of other organizations, the SOSS Sanggunian would focus its efforts on collaborating with organizations' events that pertain to their advocacy, whether through the provision of volunteers, financial subsidies, or even information dissemination upon request. Both parties would discuss these aspects through the official communication channels for the proper allocation of resources. For the events that the SOSS Sanggunian plans to tackle, we would seek to collaborate with individuals and organizations that uphold the same advocacies through courtesy calls. These courtesy calls aim to gain insight into possible improvements, flaws, or if agreed by both parties, a partnership for the upcoming event. Everything will be achieved when first and foremost, the internal systems are recalibrated to create a focus on a Sanggunian that aims for collaboration with its student population.

SOSStainable Leadership

Course representatives are currently one of the most underutilized bodies within the Sanggunian as it allows courses to have someone that is able to disseminate information to the grassroots, and most importantly, someone that the course is able to trust. It is essential to create further foundations to ensure the efficiency and practicality of the course representatives system. This can be done by instilling initiatives that ensure sustainable leadership within course representatives as they understand their roles, responsibilities, and jurisdiction within the SOSS Sanggunian. At the start of a course representative term, the legislative division would meet with the course representative to help fully actualize their plans. The division would guide the representative into creating the necessary foundations that may include contact details for relevant parties, ongoing initiatives, or issues they may encounter. The course representatives would then be required to meet with their home department and, if applicable, their home organization to create bridges for more streamlined processes that explore new opportunities, requests, and even concerns. These action points ensure that course representatives can understand their positionality within the Sanggunian system, streamline communication with their home departments, and are equipped with the information to hold their position effectively.
